LOCATION: The village of Gradets is the biggest one in South-East Bulgaria and it is part of Kotel Municipality, Sliven District. It is situated in the Luda Kamchiya Valley, enclosed by the Eastern Balkan Mountains in the southwest. This part of the Balkan Mountains is called Stidovo. The closest towns and villages are Kotel, Medven, Zheravna, Katunishte, Neykovo and Ichera. The architecture of Gradets bears the mark of the unique Bulgarian Revival style. The wall remains of a Roman citadel are still here, situated in the most strategic position, where all mountain passes, leading to the place, can be observed from. Below it the calm, in summer, river winds, but it is really wild in spring. Its deep pools are a paradise for fish and crabs. You can also bathe in its cool water in torrid summer days.
